Borghese Bel Viso 7 Piece Skincare Kit

Another Sunday post! I am hoping in a few weeks to get back to doing some looks and tutorials if time allows! Borghese was nice to send me their Bel Viso kit for a review, and since I have become such a big fan of their products, I was really excited to try the ones I haven’t tried yet, and I know I’ve said it before but ALL their products smell amazing! Like a nice soft, scent you would smell when you walk into a spa. This ENTIRE KIT is $54 on QVC.com! That’s a steal! And gives you the opportunity to try their best selling products at once for a low price. Even the reviews give this awesome kit 5 stars. These are NOT sample sizes in this kit, they are generous sizes that will last you a long time so that you can accurately see if they work for you.

I highly recommend this kit for you ladies with dry-normal skin since it’s really moisturizing and helps with those whose skin has been affected by winter weather. It keeps my skin moisturized without feeling greasy and without causing me to breakout; and there’s a lot of product to last me a long time.

What’s in the kit:

  • 2.5 oz Esfoliante Delicato
  • 1 fl oz Fluido Protettivo advanced spa lift for eyes
  • 4 fl oz Effetto Immediato spa soothing tonic
  • 2.5 oz Fango active mud for face and body
  • 1 fl oz CuraForte moisture intensifier
  • 1 fl oz Crema Straordinaria Da Giorno SPF25
  • 1-oz Dolce Notte re-energizing night creme

My regimen:
I use the Esfoliante Delicato Gentle Cleanser and Exfoliant to cleanse my face in the morning or at night (I only use it once a day to avoid over drying my face), I then spritz a little of the Spa Soothing Tonic on my face and let it sink in and dry (it’s also a great skin refresher) as it hydrates and moisturizes the skin. If it’s the morning, I apply the Day Treatment Cream with SPF 25, at night I mix the CuraForte Moisture Intensifier with the Dolce Notte Re-Energizing Night Cream (both of which I did an in-depth review in past posts) and apply it on my face; then apply the Fluido Protettivo Advanced Spa Lift for Eyes cream around my eye area to help moisturize my eyes and keep them supple, since that area tends to get dry.

Once a week I use the Fango Active Mud for face and body (at least try to use it one a week!)

From QVC:
What is it: Bel Viso by Borghese translates to beautiful treatment. These seven indulgent products offer a complete facial treatment in the comfort of your own home.

Who is it for: Avid Borghese fans or those experiencing the brand for the first time. This superior skin care kit is suitable for all skin types.

Why is it different: The ultimate treat for you or a fantastic gift. Everything you need to rejuvenate, restore, and firm your face and body.

Borghese Moisturizers for Dry Skin

I am becoming a huge fan of Borghese products, their moisturizers are amazing because they do a great job of keeping my dry skin from flaking and keep my skin supple and moisturized. Especially spending Christmas in Washington where it was freezing cold and at times, dry, my skin needed something that will quench its thirst. I love a good product for my skin, and because my skin is the most important to me, I don’t mind paying a little more for great quality- something that works. I took these products with me to Washington, and it was a skin saver!

Equilibrio Equalizing Restorative ($44.50, 1.7 oz)- 4.5 out of 5 stars
What it is: A lightweight, oil-free moisturizer which restores the moisture balance of your skin while controlling shine. Non-comedogenic, Equilibrio normalizes skin, hydrating where necessary, leaving skin with a velvety, matte complexion.

Has witch hazel, rosemary, and white birch to capture excess oil and has Acqua di Vita complex to hydrate dry areas to leave skin balanced.

My experience with this product: I use this moisturizer before applying CuraForte Moisturizer Intensifier, in the morning and after I shower, and it keeps my skin smooth throughout the day without having to reapply and without feeling oily or greasy. Doesn’t break me out at all and I love the pump bottle which makes it easy to apply, keeps it sanitary, and no product is wasted. I was using Korres Yogurt Moisturizer, which is around $30 a pop but it didn’t last me long and found myself buying a new one every month or a few weeks, this one costs a little more but contains more product and so far is lasting me a long time (I already had it for 2 months now and still have a lot left in the bottle!)

CuraForte Moisture Intensifier ($66.50, 1.7 oz)- 5 out of 5 stars

What it is: A lightweight formula that intensifies and maximizes the skin’s capacity to hold moisture by 200%. It softens and lifts dull surface cells allowing the benefits of moisturizers to penetrate easily and perform at their optimum. Surface fine lines and wrinkles decrease up to 70% within 11 days. Improves skin tone and clarity.

My experience: I use this after I apply my Borghese Equalizing Moisturizer, and it keeps my skin more supple, and I noticed that my skin feels more moisturized, lasting all day without any re-application. The best part about their skin products is that they don’t feel greasy, or oily, they literally sink into your skin and not just keep it moisturized, but my skin feels more even and soft, so not only does it help dry skin- it also improves your skin. The only gripe I have is that it is a bit pricey, but it does last a long time, and if you are like me where you find yourself always looking for a new moisturizer or repurchasing your go-to one, it might be a savings in the end.

Dolce Notte Re-Energizing Night Cream ($53.50, 1.85 oz)- 5 out of 5 stars
What it is: While you sleep, return Normal-Dry or Very Dry skin to a comfortable, balanced and healthy state. This rich nighttime treatment encourages cell turnover, sweeping away dullness and impurities while revealing radiant skin. Non pore-clogging, good for sensitive skin. Also contains the acqua di vita complex to sweep away dullness.

My experience: Out of the 4 products, this one is my FAVORITE. I am a fan for moisturizers that you can apply at night, and does the work while you sleep. I love putting this before bedtime or after a shower and letting it just seep into my skin. I wake up with baby soft skin making makeup application so easy and everything just goes on smooth. It literally leaves you skin feeling and looking flawless. And smells amazing! And this too is lasting me a long time, it has definitely changed my skin for the better. I used to have patches of dry skin and this totally helped!

Fango Ristorativo Restorative Hydrating Mud for Face & Body ($33.50, 7 oz.)- 4 out of 5 stars
What it is: A multi-purpose mask that helps nourish and replenish skin with vital marine nutrients and Borghese’s signature Acqua di Vita® Complex. It helps protect against environmental damage while soothing stressed or dehydrated skin with a cooling sensation. Reduces redness as well as inflammation and irritation of the skin. Concentrated minerals and micronutrients replenish and re-mineralize dull, depleted skin. Softens, smoothes and enhances elasticity of the skin for a younger, healthier, more luminous complexion.

*This also comes in a tub form, so I am really happy it’s now available in a tube- and at HALF the cost!

My experience: I love masks, but to be honest I rarely reach for them. But because this is in a tube and total time is 5 minutes, it makes it super easy to use. The cream is white straight from the tube, but turns a light blue when you apply it on your face as it has little micro beads. It has kaolin to help clean and purify and fights against inflammation of the skin. I just apply, leave on for 5 minute and rinse off. It was a nice feeling on my skin because I am used to masks being so drying to take out any excess oil, but this was nice because after rinsing, you can feel your skin is more refreshed.

Borghese Body Scrubs & Lipgloss

I had the opportunity to try out a few Borghese products, their B Gloss lipgloss in “Red Lustro” (shimmer), ($18.50, .21oz.) and two of their body scrubs;  Salt Scrub, ($38, 16 oz.) and a their Cura-C scrub, ($49, 15.75 oz).  I REALLY love their lipglosses, they are very pigmented and they come in 12 shades. They also lasted a pretty long time on my lips. However, they are a bit sticky, not an annoying sticky (at least not to me), but you can tell they are a tad bit thicker than say a MAC lipgloss; but because of this, I believe it helps it last longer on your lips. I just recommend not wearing it on a windy day to avoid your hair sticking to your lips, LOL! I plan on getting a couple more shades of their gloss.

  • Long-wearing formula.
  • Vitamins A and E deliver moisture.
  • Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil and Aloe Vera soothe lips.

I loved the shade I received- “Red Lustro”, it’s such a pretty shimmery red- perfect for the holidays! It’s much darker than these pictures depict, (for comparison purposes think MAC Cult of Cherry lipglass which is LE (limited edition) and no longer available; so if you are looking for a good dupe, Borghese’s “Red Lustro” fits the bill!). “Cult of Cherry” is a bit more on the cool side, a brighter pink, whereas “Red Lustro” is a nice deep red, but they both have shimmer. Borghese lipglosses also have a little bit more product (.21 oz. versus .17 oz MAC). Just look at these comparison pics!

And here it is on the lips by itself, it’s really pigmented eh? And look at my lashes from my last post using the Clinique Primer and Shiseido Mascara, that’s without using an eyelash curler!

 __________________________________________________________

I love the Christmas season, but the one thing I hate is how drying it is on my skin. Scrubs come to the rescue because they slough off dry/dead skin leaving your skin soft and smooth right after. What sets the Borghese scrubs apart from other drugstore brands, is how moisturizing it is even after you rinse it off. Each scrub comes in huge airtight glass jars (which you could also reuse for something else even after it’s all gone such as bubble bath balls), and they contain A LOT of product to last you awhile. The consistency is nice and thick, like those lotion souffles, and has visible scrubbing beads. The Cura-C Scrub is great for those with dry skin or to focus on the driest parts of your body.

From their website:

Formulated with Vitamin C, A and E plus CoQ10 and Beta-Carotene for anti-oxidant and nourishing benefits plus Shea Butter, Squalane, Sunflower Oil and Carrot Oil to soften and smooth skin.

What is it: Purely Organic Face cleansing products.

What they Say:

The use of natural and organic personal care products is increasing dramatically… not just in the United States but throughout the world. People are becoming more knowledgeable and concerned about the environment and the effect of toxic chemicals on us and the earth. Properly formulated natural and organic personal care products are not only good for you but are actually more effective than their commercially mass-produced chemical laden counterparts.

Safer and Healthier

Why are people consuming more natural and organic foods? Clearly, the absence of unnecessary chemicals and pesticides in the food and drinks we ingest make them safer and healthier for us. The use of natural and organic personal care products is just as, if not more important than, consuming natural and organic foods. While the body’s digestive system is actually designed to filter out impurities, the skin, as the body’s largest organ, absorbs 60% of what is put on it, directly into the bloodstream. (SOURCE: GOOD HOUSEKEEPING INSTITUTE)

Essential oils, for example, primary ingredients in any natural or organic personal care product, are the concentrated, odoriferous derivatives of therapeutic plants produced for their own survival and protection from disease. These precious oils influence the plant’s growth and reproduction insuring a long and healthy life. The molecular structure of essential oils is very close to that of the fluids and oils of our skin, accounting for our skin’s natural affinity to them. They are readily absorbed and penetrate to the deepest skin layers. Regular use of essential oils in skin care has been proven effective in helping correct problems such as wrinkles, excessive oiliness, dryness, blemishes, and tone. Essential oils have the capacity to promote the elimination of dead cells, regenerate new ones and to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.

Better for the Environment

Organic farming is safer for the environment. It helps to give back to nature by maintaining and replenishing the soil rather than depleting it. Organic farming is better for all of us in the long run. The use of natural ingredients over cheaper synthetic ingredients eliminates the release of hazardous bi-products released into the environment during the production of synthetic chemicals in laboratories and factories around the globe.

In a nutshell:

Kissmyface is a company that features all organic beauty products. Some of these products have been featured in such magazines as seventeen and Elle magazine. The all natural ingredients provide better moisture, texture and overall appearance for your skin as well as being Eco- friendly.

Pros: Environmentally friendly, all natural products with no hidden additives that may irritate your skin. Smell is decent leaves your skin feeling very clean and refreshed. Perfect for all skin types.

Cons: If you are allergic to things such as soy or mica or any other fruits you may have to check the products ingredients as a lot of there products contain this. If you have extremely dry skin I do not recommend the soap bar, although it does leave your skin feeling clean if you have extremely dry skin it may not be the best.

Overall: I loved the products! It made my face feel and look healthier and did not irritate or make my skin oily. I was a bit worried at first because some soy based products irritate me, but this was completely fine. The Soap bar made my face squeaky clean and combined with the toner and the face crème that contained sun block , it hydrated and gave me a great glow as well as protect my face from UV Rays. The fact the product is eco-friendly is a big plus , most of us want to do our part to help the environment and it’s great when you can do that and look great at the same time.

Ultimate Personal Shaver

Shave your cho-cha ladies (or other body parts!) with the Ultimate Personal Shaver. I know many of us shave our legs with a razor or shave and trim the hair down there, but why spend frequent trips to the salon for a Brazilian wax, or risk using a sharp razor around a delicate area?

The Ultimate Personal Shaver Kit ($79.95) is a shaving kit to use on the body and/or the bikini area to give you the closest shave possible, that regular razors don’t do. It comes with the personal shaver, finishing shaver, talc powder (to protect the skin while shaving), a brush to brush away any shaved hairs; and stencils (if you are into designing your lady part!) LOL.

What they say (from their site):

Why Ultimate Personal Shavers Beat Razors Shave After Shave

1. Unlike razors, our personal shaver can be used at anytime, like just before a big meeting, with no fear of nicking or cutting your skin.
2. Unlike razors, the personal shaver will not damage your skin, so you can shave as often as you need without fear of ingrown hairs and razor burns.
3. Extremely safe design allows you to shave all over your body, including delicate intimate parts. You’ll never need to worry about switching razors for separate areas.
4. No special preparations are required; you can shave anytime in the comfort of your home.
5. Lightweight, cordless trimmer and finisher are easy to carry in a purse, travel bag or brief case, so you’ll never be caught with unwanted stubble.
6. Buy with peace of mind; you will get a brand new trimmer/shaver if either product breaks within a year.

My experience with it: I tried out the Finishing Shaver on my arms, and it did remove the short hairs but takes some time getting used to as I felt I was using a lint shaver on my arm! LOL. I don’t know how this would perform on the hair down there since mine literally just stopped working after the second time I used it and it had brand new batteries too!

The talc powder feels like a silky priming powder you apply before you shave to help protect the skin, but I can see how applying a powder in general can be messy. The Personal Trimmer is great for perhaps smaller areas that just need minor trimming, such as the upper lip area, or even stray eyebrow hairs.

Skincare: Pretika Facial Care System

Everyone yearns for great skin, and those of us who do have great skin- want to maintain it. I get a few compliments on my skin but let me tell you, I do have pimples that come outta nowhere at times and it’s not easy maintaining nice skin!

I was browsing through Sephora a few months ago and came across the Clarisonic Facial Brush and was interested in trying it until I almost fell outta my chair when I saw the price! $195!

Clarisonic Brush:

Now don’t get me wrong, if it was a little miracle in a bottle and did wonders for my skin, I eventually would cough up that much for it- however, with tough economic times and the fact that the BF and I are getting our own place, $195 isn’t in our budget. So what is a girl to do??? I did my research!

I looked at several facial brushes (even manual cheap ones) and hours later I found myself wandering the aisles of my local Rite-Aid and stumbled upon Pretika SonicDermabrasion Facial Care System for only $30! What a steal! You can find more info on it in various sites online, and find other products from Pretika here on the Rite-Aid website.

I read a few reviews on it from makeup alley in which it was highly praised and just as good as the Clarisonic brush (mind you I have NOT TRIED the Clarisonic Brush so I can only speak for the Pretika brush), and that it prevents the amount of breakouts and helps keep skin clean and clear. The other Facial Regimen Brush also from Pretika was not as good as many claimed that it stopped working after a few months (my guess is because it’s cheaply made and battery operated); but the one I bought has its own charger and plugs into the wall.

Product: 4 out of 5
Packaging: 5 out of 5
Price: $30, 5 out of 5!
Quality: 5 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What they claim:

* Sonic frequency technology produces 630 rotations per minute that works with the natural elasticity of the skin to deeply and gently cleanse
* Step 1 Microdermabrasion Scrub. Before use, cleanse skin with a mild, soap-free cleanser and pat dry skin.
* Step 2 Hydrating Firming Complex: Dot your face in four (4) areas with Hydrating Firming Complex: forehead, cheeks, chin and nose
* Step 3 Clean Applicators. After each treatment, thoroughly clean Micro-Fiber Exfoliating Bristle Applicators using hot water
* The new Microdermabrasion way to rejuvenating skin

So how was my experience with it?
Once you get it, charge it overnight before use. You can use it with your own facial/skin regimen products such as your current facial cleanser, etc. It’s a fun little machine and has a BUILT IN TIMER and beeps every 20 seconds (4 times only) so you know how much to spend on each area of your face (cheeks, forehead, chin, nose), then automatically turns off; AND you can control 2 speeds, one for normal and sensitive skin. I really feel like it’s exfoliating my skin, loosens up the natural oils and dirt on my face, revealing a smoother looking and even-toned face.

The bristles are a little rough on the face (even on the sensitive setting) and I am guessing because it’s still new and hasn’t ‘soften’ yet, or my skin is just too sensitive to the slightest things (and yes I am using super light pressure to where it’s barely even touching my face). So please use it with CAUTION the first few times until you and your skin are used to it. Also, it’s waterproof obviously so you CAN take it in with you to the shower (just dry the bottom charging poles at the bottom before you place it back into the charger to prolong its life).

How much and where did you get it?
$30 (before tax) at Rite-Aid (don’t know any other actual stores you can walk-in and get it at sorry)

What does it come with? It comes with the charger, a replacement brush head, a brush head already attached to the actual device, the microdermabrasion scrub to exfoliate, and the Hydrating Firming Complex.

Where can I purchase more replacement heads? On their website http://www.pretika.com or you can search other distributors online.

What’s cool about it? It has a built-in timer that beeps every 20 seconds (4 times only) so you know how much to spend on each area of your face (cheeks, forehead, chin, nose), then automatically turns off.

Can you take it in the shower? Yes, it’s waterproof!

How do you use it?
Turn it on, and like any normal facial brush or sponge, rub gently in circular motions over entire face.

Overall?
I love this brush, and I love the price even more. It’s definitely at a good price and it’s great quality. My skin has never looked more radiant! I say save/use the other $165 you would have spent on the Clarisonic brush on other things (like more makeup! LOL)

The kit fresh out of the box!

Comes with:

…and replacement brush head!
