Sasa Haul, Meow Cosmetics Oil Control Primer Powder, & Breast Cancer Donations

I’d like to start off with something that’s very dear to me, reader Christal informed me that the owner of Pure Luxe has a special mineral color, “Tinker Pink” designed to help her friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer and has had a breast removed because of this deadly disease. By purchasing one for $6, you are helping her friend get the treatment she needs, as all proceeds of this purchase will go to her.

This is very important to me as breast and ovarian cancer run in my family, I lost my great grandmother to cancer and sadly when I was a baby, so I never got to know this wonderful woman, my grandmother also had a breast removed, and my mother had a malignant cyst removed back in the early 90’s. Of course it’s inevitable that I am the next of kin, so I have been doing everything in my power to keep myself healthy and hopefully prevent this deadly disease that has robbed some of us of our loved ones. So PLEASE purchase this color if you can, for $6 you are helping save a life, and you get a lovely mineral eyeshadow as well to remind you of the power and strength us women have.

I know I am buying mine!

I completely forgot that I ordered from like about a month ago, then I get a note from USPS saying I had a parcel waiting to be picked up, so I picked it up this morning and the box said “Hong Kong” and I was like “What did I order from Hong Kong!???”, then I remembered; it was my Shiseido Eyelash Curler, I know Lani had requested I do a review on this one after the review I did on the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, so I will do one soon! I also got the Tiffa Mascara Base which reminds me of the imju Fiberwig mascara because it actually has tiny fibers, I haven’t tested it out yet so we will see, I also got a Cleansing Oil that has Rose & Chamomile, smells so yummy! Then this spot remover that supposedly removes scars and dark spots completely, and Nexcare Acne Dots which are used when a pimple appears, you just place the sticker directly to the affected area and the sticker turns white when it’s ready to be replaced (after it absorbs all the sebum). I am excited to try all these items out!

I also received my Premiere Puss Primer Powder from Meow Cosmetics the other day, it’s a priming powder you apply BEFORE your foundation to control oil throughout the day, I read reviews on it before purchasing it and they were all pretty good, so I went ahead and bought the full-size for $12.95, the ingredients are: Kaolin Clay, Silk Powder, Boron Nitride, none of which my skin reacts to.

I tried it out, and I really noticed a difference! My skin looked a lot smoother for one thing with my mineral foundation, I guess because my mineral foundation wasn’t absorbing any oil, making it look blotchy and runny at the end of the day. I will do a formal review soon!

Product Review: MAC Lip Erase

Product: 4 out of 5
Packaging: 4 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5
Price: $16.50

What it does: “A flesh-toned balm that visually neutralizes and erases natural colour from the lip. Shine- and texture-free. Available in a choice of two shades for use on light to medium skin tones.”

My take: I have always used a concealer or a cream foundation to neutralize the color of my lips. I do this so that lipsticks appear truer and brighter in color so that the actual color appears, and not the color result of it being mixed with my pink, or sometimes red lips. I wanted to try this because like I said, I have always used a concealer or a cream foundation, obviously now that I use mineral foundation, I don’t really have anything to do the job, I can use my concealer but it’s TOO thick to be on the lips and makes it look cakey. There isn’t much color different between the only two colors they have: Pale and Dim. Pale is really light so I got Dim so I don’t look so ghastly.

What I liked about it:
Lip Erase is really for the lips, giving a nice neutral color, and no yellow tinges or yellow undertones found in concealers. It really covered up nice and applying lipstick glided on smoothly! The packaging is nice too, usually when it comes to lips, I hate jars, but because the jar allows you to use your finger or a lip brush and really get in there and get some color, it makes application A LOT easier to apply, and applies it evenly. The pot is HUGE and there is more than enough to last you a long, long time!

What I didn’t like about it: First of all, it’s ONLY available in MAC PRO stores (, so you will not find it on the actual MAC website. It’s not as creamy as I would like it to be, it’s a bit dry in the sense that it takes some swipes to really get a good amount to work with. It can also make your lips feel dry so you may want to put some chapstick before you apply this.

You might like this if: You have naturally pigmented lips such as a dark pink/red and lipsticks don’t look the same on your lips as they do on your hand. You might like this to neutralize the color making your lippies much more vibrant and true to color!

You might not like this if:
You already have dry, chapped lips.

Natural Lips (no chapstick, no primer, nothing):

Product Review- Camellia Rose Skin Soothing Primer

Product: 5 out of 5
Packaging: 5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5

Like Aileen from Shades of U, I find this to also be my holy grail of primers. I have tried many face primers before, from Smashbox Photo Finish, Pure Luxe Eraser, Laura Geller Spackle, Laura Mercier, the list goes on and on…I really like Pure Luxe Eraser as well, but the Camellia Rose Primer is wonderful! Nothing remotely compares to it that I have tried so far.

The one thing I refuse to pay A LOT for, is a primer. It’s not necessary to shell out $35+ for something you can’t see, and goes under your makeup. Most of the time, it causes me to have a pimple or two because of all the ingredients in it.

I know some people are sensitive to any type of silicone or certain oils, and as much as I have sensitive skin, my face actually loves and tolerates this stuff! I have always wanted to try Jen’s Primer (owner of, she had a baby and closed up shop for awhile, but she recently re-opened business, and I was one of the many people first in line to nab this awesome primer!

What I LOVE about it:
First of all, I absolutely love the smell! I can’t quite describe it, but it reminds me of a teabag and it’s just heaven on my face. Mine came in a jar, but from what I hear, it now comes in a pump. I know some prefer the pump to the jar simply for sanitary reasons, but I can go either way, doesn’t really matter to me because it’s awesome! The best part? I have used it for over 2 weeks now, and have NOT received any kind of a bad reaction, not a pimple, not a rash, no redness, nada. I can only speak for myself, but for you ladies who have super sensitive skin, she has a new formula/new version, V 2.0, in which squalane and red raspberry is replaced with Camellia Oil (really good for your skin) and Rice Bran Oil!

Jen is also wonderful, great customer service, and I love how she is able to manage and really remain one on one with all her customers! Juggling her own business and kids is hard work, yet this woman is incredible!

The ingredients in the ORIGINAL formula is: Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Squalane, Watermelon Seed Oil, Red Raspberry Oil

What I HATE about it: Absolutely NOTHING! I need to stock up on this stuff!

Overall: Let’s just say I am putting in another order NOW…..:)

in response to comments, YES you can use this primer for ALL kinds of foundation (I used it under my Maybelline Liquid Foundation, Mineral Foundation, etc.), the consistency is a gel, and it seriously is my favorite at the moment!

Product Review: Philosophy Primer On a Clear Day

Packaging: 5 out of 5
Price: 5 out 5
Product Itself: 5 out 5!

I first saw this on, and the only thing that really made me buy it at first was the price, $15! Can’t beat that for a really good makeup primer!

I loved the packaging, it’s in a tiny tube perfect for travel! And I love the simplicity of the package.

I tested it out this morning when I was getting ready for work and it smells nice AND it seriously went on so smoothly, just like putting on moisturizer. The best part? My mineral foundation went on so evenly and smoothly, no patches, no un-even colored areas, nothing! And it left my skin baby smooth and my foundation lasted over 8 hours looking the same as when I applied it!

So you gals on a budget and can’t afford $30+ for a primer, definitely try this one out!

I received my order on Friday so I have yet to actually make my own foundation, thought it sounds each with the instructions they include. I plan on doing it soon; so of course I will let you ladies know my review on it, but so far I love how fast they shipped, it looks very promising! It even came in a cute PINK satchel! :)

I also found a BRONZER at the mall (one of those tiny Asian shops), that reminded me of MAC’s MSF (mineralized skin finish) in Global Glow. Guess how much! Come on GUESS!!! Ok, ok, it was $2.99! I know right, what a deal! I LOVE it and the smiling sun that stares at me is just SUPER cute!

And got me a cute, travel-sized angled contour brush:

I also bought me some boots at DSW (well the BF did but I picked it out! haha), they were $80 each pair, but I needed some winter stuff and I love the black ones, they look so chic and classy, and ultra comfy!

Whatdya gals think?

Green Tea Wipes, Prep+Prime, and Earthly Riches

I bought these Green Tea Makeup Remover Wipes from this store downstairs from my work, they have a lot of NYX products, but none that tickled my fancy, but what’s cool is that they have a lot of the Japanese/Korean beauty products which I love! I love the smell of these wipes, they have Vitamin E (which smoothes and tones the skin), and Aloe. It matches my Purist Green Tea Moisturizer I bought from Sally’s. It makes my skin feel so clean!

I also got the Prep+Prime from MAC, I give it 3 out 5 stars. Why? Well one, I didn’t really like the packaging, I wish it was a tad bit bigger or same size but comes in the same bottle as the Studio Fix Moisturizer so I can stand it up. Also, compared to my Laura Geller Spackle Face Primer, I didn’t enjoy the smell of it too much, although it works remarkably well.

The “Earthly Riches” eyeshadow is so pretty, the purple is a deep shimmery purple, and the dark brown is very earthy indeed, and I love the antique feel it has to it.

This is the eye look I did using some products from the Antiquity Collection, used “Silversmith” eyeshadow all over the lid, and “Sweet Sienna” pigment and “Earthly Riches” on the outer V and contour giving me a natural look. Lined the bottom with “Slate” from Covergirl.

Here is another look I did using “Moon’s Reflection” and the new eyeshadow from “Family Silver”:

And here is the closed eye version of my Halloween look:
