Product Review: Beauty From The Earth Minerals

Finally! My BFTE review, I’ve been meaning to get this in your hands sooner y’all but I have been so busy having fun with these minerals trying to create different looks!

First of all, the customer service is beyond excellent! Crystal, the owner of BFTE, is amazingly sweet and responds to you right away (not to mention beautiful!), and I love awesome customer service when it comes to these mineral makeup companies simply because most of them are owned by one person and one person only (at most 3 people!) and yet they manage to multi-task and respond to customers, pack and ship, create…all at once!

Secondly, the website itself carries a wide range of mind blowing colors guaranteed to suit you ladies who love earthy, natural looks to even the ladies that are not afraid to show off some bright colors! I LOVE how they have actual swatches of each color on the website and not just a computer generated or blurry picture of a swatch. Why is this a bonus for me? Because it really helps me decide what colors I want and allows me to see what color I should expect rather than guessing which shade of blue it is for example. Also, since many mineral companies don’t accept returns or exchanges, it can be scary buying a full size of something you are not sure of. They even have a few models showcasing different looks and colors on the site which paints an even better picture of what colors to get!

My favorite colors?
Grape, Green Apple, Karma, Peacock, and Jaded

I had an opportunity to try these gorgeous mineral eyeshadows and I love the color-payoff and how vibrant they are, even without a base! I highly suggest using a mixing medium (glycerin/water mix, see the label on the right on how to make your own homemade mixing medium), because this helps pigments adhere to your eyelids more as well as making the color bolder. They are very easy to blend and work with, and I love the shimmer they give!

They also have a 5-piece sample kit which includes 5 baggie samples of any colors of your choice for only $5! That’s only $1.00 a bag and there is plenty to last you many uses. Full sizes come in a 5 gram sifter jar packed with enough product to last you a long time! They also have blushes, mineral foundation, skincare products, and more!

Viva Las Vegas!

Sorry gals, I haven’t posted this weekend, spur of the moment, the BF decided that we should go to Vegas Friday night, and I figured ok i’ll just post when I get there, then I find out there is NO INTERNET CONNECTION! So that wasn’t fun…hence I could not post at all this weekend. :(

However! I did go to the MAC PRO store Las Vegas, I think I am going to make it a tradition in my travel adventures to hit up every MAC PRO store in each city I go to.

I picked up more MAC Pigments: Cool Pink, Emerald Green, and Your Ladyship! I know last time I went to the Pro store in NY, I didn’t think Emerald Green was the green I was looking for because it looked too light, but then when I swatched it in Vegas, it was a lot more beautiful than it was in NY! Deep green with lots of shimmer! Your Ladyship is sold out in the MAC stores near where I live so I am really glad they had it! It’s a gorgeous creamy beige with shimmer, almost looks like a light gold at certain angles. Almost like “Provence” pigment, just lighter and more shimmery. Cool Pink is really pretty, I just have to figure how to use it right because it’s matte and sometimes it comes out light pink and other times it’s almost a lavender/purple. We’ll see….

Close-up of the 3:

We went to Planet Hollywood and they had BET’s Celebrity Poker and we saw Nelly, Kat Williams, Mekhi Phifer, Eddie Griffin, Orlando Jones (7up commercial guy), and a bunch of other comedic celebs whose names I forgot. I was so star struck when I saw Nelly, he was blinged out! And they were all seriously so nice talking to everyone in the crowd. I brought my crappy camera which is why the pics came out blurry. :(

How a million dollars looks like!

We were walking back to the car when we saw DMC! He was super nice!

My BF then won me a zebra! My favorite animal! I named him Ziggy of course. :)

Ziggy and Daddy:

MAC Curiositease & Of Beauty Haul…

You know your crazy beauty blogger had to get her grubby hands on the newest collection from MAC, so I headed over once again to the Glendale Galleria and scooped me up the COOL Pigment Set, Beauty Powder in “Drizzlegold”, Pigments: Vanilla (had to re-stock! so it’s AVAILABLE ladies for sampling, although I have not received the jars I ordered yet), and Gold Stroke Pigment.

Here’s my brief review on the collection:

Cool pigment set: Thank God this is the only thing I wanted from the Curiositease collection! I absolutely love the packaging and the colors are gorgeous. I was going to get the sparkle eye pencils but the glitter in eye pencils irritates me, no matter what brand it is, so I passed on it sadly enough. :(
– Helium: Pretty pale shimmery pink, perfect all over lid color.
– Naval Blue: My favorite pigment out of the bunch, it’s really pretty in person and its a subtle, deep navy blue.
– Forest Green: I love this color too, it’s a nice dark green, pairs great with Night Light Pigment.
– Softwash Grey: I have always loved this color, it’s a pigment form of MAC eyeshadow “Cumulus” to me from the “Blue Storm” collection. It’s one of my favorites too, but it’s a re-promote.
– Blue reflects glitter: Pretty bluish-white glitter, but can’t think of anywhere to wear it to…

Beauty Powder (Drizzlegold): I am in love! I actually had no intention of purchasing any of the beauty powders, I knew that they were pre-released awhile ago for the PRO stores and actually played with it a bit when I was in New York and always thought that they would be too sparkly, can’t wear it everyday/everywhere sorta thing, boy was I wrong! I walked in the MAC store and thought id play with it while all the other MA’s were hustling around the store, I swatched drizzlegold and fell in love! Gorgeous peachy-gold powder with FINELY-MILLED shimmer, and I mean super finely milled. It’s seriously perfect for highlighting the cheek bones, eyes, etc. and I plan on using it UNDER my mineral foundation to give me a more glowy-awakened look. I will test it out tomorrow and see how I like it. Tenderdusk is pretty too, but too pink to be on the face, so I chose drizzlegold, I even love the name of it haha.

Meet the newest members of the Pigment Family!!! Vanilla and Gold Stroke! And YES they WILL be added to the pigment samples list!

FOTD and MAC Pigment in Fuschia

I went to the mall after work and there were TONS of kids trick or treating dressed up in their cute little costumes! Their parents were also dressed too, and I saw about 7 Snow Whites! Gosh I seriously can’t wait to have kids and dress them up and take them to get some candy…they were just so frikkin’ cute!

I exchanged my brush set for MAC Pigment in Fuschia, 3 eyeshadows refills, and palettes. It was indeed a sad goodbye with the brush sets, but I take comfort in knowing MAC is coming out with more stuff soon so I’ll just spend my money on those! BTW, Nordstrom’s is the only store that is exclusively selling the MAC Keepsake bag which includes a pigment, lipglass, softsparkle eye pencil, and a shimmertone blush (no colors listed).

MAC-a-licious Haulage

So the boyfriend gave me some shopping money again…big mistake!

I went to the Glendale Galleria and went ka-ka-krazy! I first went to For Love 21 (weird name btw), the accessory extension of Forever 21 and bought me some more rings and necklaces (mind you NONE of this stuff I NEED), then next stop was Sephora, I am surprised I only left with 2 things! I was eye-ing like 10 things!

I bought a facial exfoliator brush because my cloth one just gave way, and I bought another blending brush. After seeing Karen’s new purchase ( on the Smashbox Special Edition Breast Cancer Awareness Fusion Lights WITH brush, I wanted it so bad and kept playing with it to feel out if I really wanted it and because it was PINK made me want it more! But I controlled myself and didn’t buy it because I don’t think I would use it often, but yet would probably buy it for the brush and the pink handle.

Next stop…MAC! Meet the newest member of the family, “Teal”:

I absolutely am in love with MAC’s Teal Pigment, it’s just such a gorgeous shimmery color that would really bring out anyone’s eyes. (Btw, it’s also available for sample for you inquiring minds!)

Reunited and it feels so good:

Of course I wouldn’t show these without swatches!!!

Another thing I absolutely fell in love with, MAC Shadestick in “Fresh Cement”, I really had the intention of purchasing “Sharkskin”, but when I swatched it, it looked like something I already have so I didn’t bother, but as soon as I swatched “Fresh Cement”, I told the MA I had to have it! I also liked “Sea Me” but I just bought a good dupe from Avon.

I also got more refills, I wanted Zonk Bleu! but she gave me Shimmermoss by accident, so I have to exchange it, and I also ran out of my favorite eyeshadow Vex, so I bought the refill again. I also bought the Cumulus eyeshadow from the “Blue Storm” collection, I know I am a little late on getting my hands on it, but I thought I had that color, and turns out I don’t! My total was $97 and something cents, hey im doing better, at least it’s UNDER $100! haha 😉

Vanessa Violet

I love, love, love the color purple! In case you haven’t noticed, I do a lot of tutorials with purple because it’s just such a gorgeous color! My favorite color used to be pink…but now I am more into purple or violet, golds, and browns. It changes all the time, but for now, im sticking to those colors.

Anyway, here is a quickie tutorial on the look I had yesterday…I bought a purple sweater that had silver glittery specks on it and thought id incorporate that into my makeup.

Also, I am LOVING MMBB (My Mineral Bath & Body), Lisa is so incredibly nice and helpful and she gives such generous samples of mineral eyeshadow, and I am definitely one of her frequent customers! I love “Black Emeralds” and “Highlights” which I used in this tutorial to highlight my brow bone, but I will have a post more in detail about these soon!

What I used:

– Homemade Mixing Medium
– MAC Painterly
– MMBB mineral eyeshadow in “Highlights” (good dupe for MAC Pigment in Vanilla or White)
– MAC Pigments in “Viz-a-Violet” and “Violet”
– Splash Pigments in “Purple Sponge” and “Silver”
– MAC eyeshadow in “Gentle Fumes” from the Smoke Signals Quad
– Indelible Gel Eyeliner in “Black Out”
– DiorShow Mascara

– Light Medium Golden Mineral Foundation
– MAC Blush in “DollyMix”

– Milani Lipstick in Dolce Vita
– Sephora Lip Liner in #206
– MAC Pigment in Viz-a-Violet
– MAC Lipglass in Lightswitch

I later changed my lipstick to MAC “Snob”…

To save space when traveling or for your purse, transfer some of your pigments to a 3 or 5 gram jar, that way you aren’t carrying that big jar of pigment, because if THAT spills in your purse, that’s a big mess!

RESULT after these steps:

To get this:

(not shown) highlighted brow bone with MMBB “Highlights”, a gorgeous color!

Line your eyes and apply mascara, and then line the bottom using the same colored eyeshadow…
