Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC)

***WARNING: This post is full of color!***

I love colors! I remember my first job, we had to wear ALL black all the time (like the MAC makeup artists! LOL) and I was just dying to wear anything that had the slightest pop of color so it didn’t look like I was going to a funeral all the time. My mom thought I was going through a “goth” phase, LOL. So when I finally left that job, I went color crazy!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) has phenomenal color pay-off and rich pigmentation. If you are looking for vibrant color in the makeup industry, then definitely check out some of their products. I recall first hearing about this company at a makeup show last year, and it was so nice to see them again this year at the recent Makeup Show in LA back in March.

I was able to get my hands on a few products which was perfect timing because I had a reader that wanted to know more about this brand and it’s such a pleasure to try these out because I don’t know any makeup companies (in a freestanding store like Sephora) that have such bright and vibrant colors, let alone being so affordable for us gals on a budget! OCC’s nailpolishes and lip tar are absolutely GORGEOUS, I could not even believe how pigmented these were in ONE STROKE!

Now the lippies in the POTS are lightly-tinted balms (despite the fact they share the same name as the liptars), so they don’t show up any color on my skin, but the LIPTAR (the ones in the tubes) are PIGMENTED. And this is surprising coming from a plastic tube one would think they are just regular lipglosses, but nope! These are amazing and much more pigmented than other brands out there not to mention affordable (only $12.50) considering YSL lipsticks are nicely pigmented but are $34 a pop! I know that given it’s in a plastic tube that may seem steep, but it’s the quality you are paying for. They also feel nice on the lips, not overly drying or gives a “cracked” look or feel. You can always put chapstick before you apply if you find it the least bit drying, but they were fine for me.

I will let the pictures speak for itself (click to ENLARGE some pics):

Don’t mind my crappy looking nails, this was from awhile ago and I was trying to get my acrylic nails off so they look janky! I had to put “Dangerous” (gray color) over “Wasabi” since I only had 5 fingers! LOL (ONE COAT ONLY) see how pigmented they are???

Lime Crime Eyeshadows!

Hello my lovely blogger friends! I know I am delayed on my usual daily post but I was unable to post last night because my whole body was sore from my “spring cleaning” this past weekend, putting things in trash bags and boxes and carrying them up and down the stairs, and then from working out at the gym on Monday…so I went to bed early last night since my body was tired and was just not letting me stay awake, thus missing Gossip Girls, One Tree Hill, AND The Hills! So ladies please fill me in on what happened in any of these shows or the previews for next week! LOL.

“So bright! It’s illegal!”

(Congrats to Tina Marie for winning the Glamour Doll Eyes eyeshadows!)

Anyway, I had the opportunity to try out Lime Crime’s Eyeshadows (, which is another awesome makeup site for vibrant, eye-popping colors. They are so pigmented and their loose glitters are finely-milled and ideal for pulling off a more glamorous look.

The colors I tried: “Princess Caraboo” (Green), “Empress” (Purple), and “Twilight” (Blue, and can you tell why I picked that color??? LOL), and the loose glitter in “Alchemy”

***Nailpolish used in this photo is Essie nailpolish in “No Boundaries”***

Quick look using “Empress” e/s (I forgot what I used for the entire look since I uploaded these pics weeks ago sorry!) I think I used NYX “Black” for the outer-V and contour…

Purely Cosmetics Goodies

Yay! Finally my Purely Cosmetics post!

If you don’t know about Robyn or Purely Cosmetics by now, then you are living under a rock! LOL. She is just so amazingly nice and I love how she is so attentive to EACH and EVERY one of her customers.

I had the opportunity to try some of Purely Cosmetics’ popular products and I am quite pleased! About a month ago my t-zone was super oily outta nowhere and I was getting a few zits here and there that was just bugging me; on top of that my makeup at the end of the day was looking like a hot mess. Miraculously Robyn heard my cries and sent me her Silk & Pearl Priming Powder, Oil Absorption Powder, Duo/Dual Fiber Stippling Brush, as well as some of her eye colors and eyeliner sealant.

I absolutely LOVE the Oil Absorption Powder! I swear it saved my face and it left my makeup nice and shine-free at the end of the work day. I first applied the Silk Pearl Powder with the stippling brush, then applied the Oil Absorption Powder. Afterwards, I just applied my mineral foundation like normal and my face wasn’t as shiny and it lasted longer as oppose to just applying my foundation with a primer. You can even use the Silk Pearl Primer and the Oil Absorption Powder as a setting powder on top of your foundation.

The Black Cherry Waterproof Gel Eyeliner is a gorgeous deep purple-burgundy with tiny flecks of shimmer which is just beautiful in person. I will definitely be doing some looks using these products soon!

The “Black Chameleon” eyeshadow is a nice soft almost matte black which is perfect for smokey eyes, or you can use it with the eyeliner sealant to create your own eyeliner.

Let me describe each of the products I received (please check out her site for ingredients and additional information):

Oil Absorption Powder: For extremely oily skin, our Oil Absorb is made of finely ground bentonite clay, which is well known for it’s high absorption properties, as well as silica, calcium carbonate, and kaolin clay. Use a light layer under foundation to absorb excess oils.

Pure silk powder is perfect for combination skin. While leaving your skin feeling silky soft, silk powder is a “smart powder” that can either absorb or release moisture as needed, in addition to absorbing excess oils. A very breathable ingredient, it’s properties will change as temperatures and humidity changes – perfect for the warmer months. Can be used as a primer or a finishing powder.

Silk Primer Powder: Composed of pure silk and pearl powders, this facial primer nourishes your skin with amino acids & calcium, hiding your pores, absorbing excess oils and moisturizing your skin to leave a matte and velvety soft texture. Pearl powder has long been known to help heal skin redness, smooth & refine skin texture, and regulate skin discolorations. Allantoin helps increase skin cell rejuvenation. Available in two formulations: Normal – Dry skin and Normal – Oily skin.

Eyeliner Sealant: Make any mineral eye shadow stay true all day long without the use of a primer. Simply put a drop of sealant on your brush, dip into loose eye shadow and apply. Dries in just a couple of seconds. Will not crease or smudge! So little is used at a time, this 1/2 ounce bottle will last a long time.

Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in Black Cherry: Will not smudge off!

The stippling brush is similar to the MAC #187 brush and is used for light application of mineral foundation or blush. Like all brushes i’ve tried including MAC, the bristles shed a little bit, but not too much. It’s a nice dense brush so it allows you to grab enough product for application.

I love her products (for real) and no I am not trying to advertise, heck I use her products myself! I just get a lot of questions in regards to different kinds of mineral makeup products and what my shade is, etc. So I LOOOVVVE her Skin Smoothing Formula Mineral Foundation in “Olive Beige”, it is the perfect match to my skin and I love how there is no mixing needed to get the perfect shade, it’s good straight outta the jar!

Random Moment:

I love the “Little Mermaid”, can’t wait to get my hands on the new “Ariel’s Beginning”!

****I have been reading ALL your questions and I will answer them soon (such as the Starflash eyeshadows and YES the color payoff is awesome on MOST of the colors, however on some of them (ahem, “lotusland”) are a bit TOO sheer to where they don’t show up on my NC30 skin even after 10 swipes! They are very similar to “Veluxe Pearl” and “Frost” finishes in my opinion, and I was told that “Flash” finish is actually going to be a new finish MAC is coming out with. But I will get more into it soon along with my review of the Lustre Twins****

I love great, down-to-earth people, who have such a big heart in general; and when you mix that in with owning a business, you get awesome customer service. Robyn from reached out to me and we exchanged a few emails, and in a matter of days I felt like i’ve known her for years! She also lives near my city! She is just such a nice and helpful person!

She sent me some exciting goodies such as a 22-eyeshadow sampler that had a wide array of colors to suit anyone, and a few blushes and foundation samples. I was very eager to try her Skin Smoothing Foundation and I love it! It goes on like a dream for dry-skin gals like me, AND I think I found my perfect match in “Olive Beige”. I want to try the other shades she sent me, and I just may have to order a full size of it because it goes on like a dream and has build-able coverage. The store has so many items to shop for, makeup brushes, Parian brush cleaner, and the Beauty Blender Sponge!

ANNNNDDDD… start the month of August right, and to say a big “thank you” to all of you lovely ladies (and maybe gents?) who read my ramblings everyday, you can use the code “nessasary” to get 15% off ANY order over $20! So what are you waiting for??! Go and shop!

Product Review: Beauty From The Earth Minerals

Finally! My BFTE review, I’ve been meaning to get this in your hands sooner y’all but I have been so busy having fun with these minerals trying to create different looks!

First of all, the customer service is beyond excellent! Crystal, the owner of BFTE, is amazingly sweet and responds to you right away (not to mention beautiful!), and I love awesome customer service when it comes to these mineral makeup companies simply because most of them are owned by one person and one person only (at most 3 people!) and yet they manage to multi-task and respond to customers, pack and ship, create…all at once!

Secondly, the website itself carries a wide range of mind blowing colors guaranteed to suit you ladies who love earthy, natural looks to even the ladies that are not afraid to show off some bright colors! I LOVE how they have actual swatches of each color on the website and not just a computer generated or blurry picture of a swatch. Why is this a bonus for me? Because it really helps me decide what colors I want and allows me to see what color I should expect rather than guessing which shade of blue it is for example. Also, since many mineral companies don’t accept returns or exchanges, it can be scary buying a full size of something you are not sure of. They even have a few models showcasing different looks and colors on the site which paints an even better picture of what colors to get!

My favorite colors?
Grape, Green Apple, Karma, Peacock, and Jaded

I had an opportunity to try these gorgeous mineral eyeshadows and I love the color-payoff and how vibrant they are, even without a base! I highly suggest using a mixing medium (glycerin/water mix, see the label on the right on how to make your own homemade mixing medium), because this helps pigments adhere to your eyelids more as well as making the color bolder. They are very easy to blend and work with, and I love the shimmer they give!

They also have a 5-piece sample kit which includes 5 baggie samples of any colors of your choice for only $5! That’s only $1.00 a bag and there is plenty to last you many uses. Full sizes come in a 5 gram sifter jar packed with enough product to last you a long time! They also have blushes, mineral foundation, skincare products, and more!

Swatches (ALL DONE DRY, NO BASE-sorry forgot to swatch “Jaded” but the color as is, is on my lid down below):
