Smokey Eyes Palette FOTD

Finally, here is the breakdown of the smokey eye I did a few posts back using the MAC Holiday Smokey Eyes Palette. (I finished all the “Twilight” books so now I have a bit more time LOL). For some reason the eyes look lighter in the full face pic, but it was much darker…

You can definitely make it darker and more “smokey”, since I wore this to work, I didn’t make it TOO dark (in the tut), but be as creative as you want! :)

What I used:

– MUFE HD Primer
– MUFE HD Foundation in #127
– Purely Cosmetics Mineral Foundation in “Olive Beige”

– MAC Blush in “True Romantic”

– MAC Holiday ’08 Smokey Eyes Palette
– MAC “Gorgeous” e/s all over the lid
– MAC e/s in “Vex” on lower half of the lid (permanent e/s, not in palette)
– MAC e/s in “Satin Taupe” on outer-v and crease
– MAC e/s in “Dark Devotion” on outer-v and outer crease
– MAC e/s in “Carbon” on outer-v and outer crease
– MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack”
– L’Oreal Double Extend Mascara

– MAC Adoring Carmine’s “To Swoon For” lipstick
– MAC Holiday “Flashmode” lipglass

Apply “Carbon” on outer-V as well (forgot to take a pic but here’s an old pic from another tut)

FOTD & Tutorial: Soft & Simple Smoky Eyes

I had a reader who requested a soft smoky look/tutorial, I personally like it because it’s not too dark and wearable anywhere. For a more dramatic/night time look, you can check out my “Black Ore” FOTD and tutorial by clicking here.

On lips: MAC “Fleshpot” lipstick with MAC “California Dreamin'” (LE)

MAC “Vex”= Flirt! Cosmetics “Lime Light”
MAC “Black Tied” = Milani “Storm”

I cropped at the brows since I was too lazy to do ’em. :)

After applying a base (such as UDPP, paint pots, etc)…

Apply eyeliner, mascara and line the lower lashline:

FOTD & Tutorial: Smokey Look Using “Black Ore” from the Solar Field Collection

Thank goodness it’s Friday! I am taking a half day at work today since I am leaving for Las Vegas to start the fun! So I most likely won’t post until I get back (on Sunday).

I just placed an order for some mineral foundation samples with Buff’d Cosmetics and again with Joppa Minerals in search of the perfect or somewhat close to the perfect shade of foundation. I still love Silk Naturals, but I just want to venture out again and find a foundation where no mixing is needed.

So far I LOVE the coverage of the Joppa Minerals (thanks Moi!) although the first samples I got were a tad bit TOO light. I like Fyrinnae’s, but in the middle of the day, the Superpower foundation became kinda chalky on my forehead and I hated it. So I ordered the regular foundation since I don’t need that much coverage to begin with, and also got two of their finishes to see which one I might like better: sheer and matte.

So now I am trying a few other foundations from companies I haven’t ordered from in awhile just to get back into the groove of picking the “closest one”. I think Joppa might just be the winner, but we’ll see!

In this “Black Ore FOTD”, I wore Joppa’s Mineral Foundation in “Medium Light #2″, and as you can see, it was TOO light on me. But makeup is all about trial and error! :)

Anyways, here is my look using the Black Ore pigment from MAC’s newest collection. It was very easy and simple to do and it’s a GORGEOUS color! A nice shimmery black with gold reflects, perfect for nights where you wanna be more dressy and an awesome addition to re-vamping the “smokey look”.

Not a lot of blending was needed since the smokey look is better when it’s naturally messy and smokey.

Have a great weekend gal pals!

What I used:

– Camellia Rose Skin Soothing Primer
– Joppa Mineral Foundation in Medium Light #3
– MAC StudioFinish Concealer in NC30

– MAC Beauty Powder in “True Romantic”

– MAC PP in “Soft Ochre” all over the lid
– Mad Minerals Indelible Creme Eyeshadow in “Carbon” as base for Black Ore
– MAC Pearlized Pigment Cluster in “Black Ore” on lower half of the lid (applied DRY)
– MAC eyeshadow in “Femmi-Fi” as highlight up to browbone
– Nixie Liquid Eyeliner in “Black”
– L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara in “Blackest Black”
– Milani Color Brilliance Pencil in “Black” smudged on lower lashline and waterline with Q-Tip

– MAC Lip Erase in “Dim”
– MAC l/s in “Pleasureseeker”
– A touch of NYX’s lipgloss in “Beige”

Should look like this:

Blend if NESSASARY, get it??! LOL

Should look like this so far…

Then just line your eyes and apply mascara (or even falsies if you want):

Tutorial: Soft Smoky Eye using Indelible Cream Eyeshadow in Carbon

I’ve heard many people who do a smoky look use MAC’s “Blacktrack” as the base (think paint pot), then “Carbon” eyeshadow over it to really give a sultry smoky look, I figure i’d use Mad Minerals’s Indelible Cream Eyeshadow in Carbon a try for this sole purpose. I am not really a smoky-eyed kind of a girl, since I am very light-skinned I think it can be too overpowering for me sometimes, so I usually do something soft rather than bold, especially since it’s wearable anywhere….

Add eyeliner and mascara…

FOTD & Tutorial: Black & Purple Using Milani “Shock” and Flirt! “Black Ivy”

I had a request for this look I did a loooong time ago, in which I used Milani “Storm” (black) and Milani “Shock” (purple), I sorta re-vamped the look (even wearing the same necklace!), using MAC “Carbon” eyeshadow instead since it’s a flat matte color, and “Storm” has glitter. Also this look is much more smoky, the new one is softer. I also used grey contacts as someone wanted to see how it would look…

So this is the ORIGINAL look (don’t mind the hideous eyebrows):

And here is the NEW look, I also used the Premier Primer Powder here under my mineral foundation, see how awesome it looks not having any shine?! This was even taken at the end of the day when the BF and I got back from dinner…

Yes I hate my nose…it’s all cartilage, no bone, so can’t get a nose job (sucks!), but at least I can put it all the way down to touch my lip! 😉

The outfit, I actually wore leggings with it AFTER I took this pic, and it’s not see-thru in case you are wondering, lol.

What I used:

– Meow Cosmetics Primer Powder
– MMBB Foundation in “Medium Beige”

– MAC Blush in “Fashion Frenzy”

– MAC “Rondelle” e/s all over lid
– Flirt! e/s in “Black Ivy” on lower lid above crease
– MAC “Carbon” e/s on outer-v
– Milani “Shock” contoured on top of Black Ivy and Carbon
– MMBB “Highlights” as highlight

– MAC l/s in “Snob”
– MAC Dazzleglass in “Baby Sparks” (not released yet)

Step 1: I applied MAC “Rondelle” e/s all over the lid from my Gentle Fumes Quad from the Smoke Signals Collection.

Step 2: Apply “Black Ivy” on the lower half of your lid just above the crease, it’s a nice matte charcoal dark grey color, one of my favs!

Step 3:
Then take Milani “Shock” and using a BLENDING BRUSH, tap some on the tip of your brush and apply it using windshield wiping motions on top of the black (think like a rainbow where it’s one color on top of another).

Step 4: Apply highlight.

Should look like this:

Step 5: Add your eyeliner (if you wear e/l), and mascara.

FOTD/Tutorial: Black & Gray Smokey Look

I had a lot of questions regarding my last post on the primer, most of your answers were actually mentioned IN the post, it DOES contain silicone (hence the ingredients “dimethicone” and Silica), it has a gel-like consistency, similar to that of the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, and I recommend using your moisturizer first, let it DRY, and then apply your primer. This avoids blotchiness of your mineral makeup. And YES it can be used with liquid foundation as well!

What I used:

– Camellia Roes Skin Soothing Primer
– MMBB Mineral Foundation in “Medium Beige”

– Jordana Blush in “Stardust”
– MAC “Strada” Blush
– MAC MSF in “Gold Spill”

– MAC Paint Pot in “Soft Ochre” (as base and all over the lid)
– MAC Silver Pigment on inner corner of the lids
– MAC “Cumulus” eyeshadow on middle of the lid
– MAC “Silver Ring” eyeshadow on outer-V and contour
– Indelible Gel Eyeliner in “Black Out”
– Lancome Mascara Base
– Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara
– No name brand Kohl eyeliner smudged on lower lashline and waterline

– Milani Lipstick in “Dolce Vita”
– AVON “Latte” Lipgloss

Step 1: Apply “Soft Ochre” Paint Pot all over eyelids.

Step 2: Apply “Rondelle” eyeshadow all over the lid.

Step 3: Apply MAC “Silver” Pigment on the inner corners of the lids.

Step 4: Apply “Cumulus” eyeshadow and “Silver Ring” on outer-V and contour.

I also got my Lancome haul, which disappointedly didn’t suit my taste, so it’s going back! They look pigmented, but ALL the lipsticks were SHEER!

I also got an Amuse Palette that was sent to me, very well pigmented, haven’t played with it yet…
