Sugarsweet FOTD & Tutorial

So I decided to do a “Sugarsweet” FOTD using of course some of the Sugarsweet goodies I got. I used “Stars N’ Rockets” and “Dear Cupcake” eye shadow and “Saint Germain” lipstick. I also used “Refined” MSF with NYX Blush in “Pinky” on my cheeks. For some reason it didn’t come out as bright when I uploaded it on here, but it’s a lot more vivid and brighter in person, I am a bit upset it didn’t show its true color… :(

And notice how my teeth are whiter??? Thanks to the Crest Advanced Seal Whitening Strips!

What I used:

– Korres Yogurt Moisturizer
– YSL Skin Radiance Primer
– MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer in NC30
– Buff’d Mineral Foundation “Chamois” and “Almond”

– NYX Blush in “Pinky”
– MAC MSF in “Refined” (LE)

– MAC Paint Pot (PP) in “Fresco Rose” on lower half of the lid
– MAC “Stars N’ Rockets” e/s on top of Fresco Rose
– MAC “Dear Cupcake” e/s on inner corner of the lid
– MUFE #92 eyeshadow (bright purple) on outer-V
– MAC “Top Hat” e/s (LE, from the “Starflash” collection) & MAC e/s in “Parfait
Armour” on contour
– MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack”
– L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara
– Ardell Falsies in #102
– Urban Decay Eyeliner in “Graffiti” on lower lashline

– MAC lipstick in “Saint Germain” (LE)
– MAC lipglass in “Starlet Kiss” (LE, from Heatherette collection)

And look what I bought today! That’s right! Oh and you know I got the DVD too! LOL

Video & Pink and Purple FOTD

Jess requested a tutorial on how I apply my blush for a more natural and softer look, so I did a quick video on it since it’s probably easier to get my point across instead of pictures. ***For reference, I am not a fan of doing videos, I get too nervous and end up sounding like a complete putz, LOL. So be easy on me haha. And yes that is an Island Pacific box behind me that my grandma gave me to help me pack some stuff (as the BF and I are preparing to get our own digs so im starting to pack up the junk I am not using now). It’s just hilarious it’s there in the background, gotta love grandma. :)

I will be posting all my videos on Vimeo from now on simply because the quality of the video is phenomenal, and there are zero haters on Vimeo which I love. It’s $60 bucks a year for the premium service which is well worth it to me if that means cutting out the immature people and the many content-stealing on YouTube and having awesome quality videos. I may still add it also on YouTube for my subscribers, but for now I will be posting on Vimeo solely.

Also, for those of you who asked about the Cosme Land store, it looks like it is Ohayo minus most of the houseware stuff, so it’s mostly and mainly beauty products that were in Ohayo, including the beloved Mandom makeup remover! :)

Here are a few “work-friendly” pics to illustrate the tutorial, I also used the stippling brush from

And this is just another pink & purple FOTD, I have done a very similar look before but I made it more vibrant by using MakeUp For Ever’s bright pink eyeshadow #9 and MAC lipstick in “Lavender Whip”.

– MAC e/s in “Romping”(on top of PP)
– MUFE e/s #9 (over romping)
– MAC e/s in “Nocturnelle” and “Satellite Dreams” on outer-V and contour
– MAC e/s in “Shadowy Lady” on outer-v
– MAC e/s in “Ricepaper” as highlight
– MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack”

FOTD & Tutorial: Smoked Purple & My Holiday Dress!

So the company holiday party is next Friday in lovely posh Beverly Hills; it should be exciting since we have a lot more people working at our company now, all of them around the same age, and they are all pretty cool. And of course everyone is bringing their significant others, so I am sure it’ll be a fun night! It’s semi-formal attire and since I don’t really own too many dresses, (I have like 2 semi-formal dresses, one doesn’t fit anymore and the other I wore to LAST year’s holiday party so that’s a no, LOL), I ended up buying this silver number at the Ontario Mills Mall (the store is called Group USA in case you are also looking for a dress!). I bought it for $120 with tax, which is good considering I will probably wear it to my sister’s Debutante Ball early next year (she is turning 18), and it’s stretchy in case I gain weight LOL.

I am thinking to do either a smokey eye (since I don’t wear anything like that to work) or maybe a silver/black eye….not sure yet I might have to play with looks this week…

I really, really, really liked THIS dress, but the size 4 and 6 were TOO small on me since it seemed like their sizes ran really small (I couldn’t even zip up the back!) and they didn’t have any sizes after that…so it made my decision easier haha.

Anyway, here is a quick black and purple look I did the other day, it’s similar to another look I did awhile back but I wanted to use “Scene” e/s and “Black Ore”, whereas in the other look Milani “Storm” and “Shock” were the only colors I pretty much used…and of course I had to watermark my damn face!

Someone asked what I suggest for the BEST nude/pink lip? I like NYX’s “Lilac Field” lipgloss, it’s the perfect baby pink and can be layered on top of a nude lipstick for a bit of color (so you don’t look too dead!), such as NYX lipstick in “Circe”, “MAC “Myth” or “Fleshpot” l/s. A dupe for MAC “Scene” eyeshadow I suggest is Flirt! Cosmetics e/s in “Black Ivy”.

What I used:

– Smashbox Primer
– Lorac Concealer
– Dior Forever Skin Liquid Foundation in “Medium Beige” (review coming soon!)

– MAC Blush in “Coygirl”
– Milani “Luminous”
– MAC MSF in “Petticoat”

– Shespace Black Primer on lower half of the lid
– MAC “Scene” e/s on top of primer
– MAC “Black Ore” pigment clusters (optional if you want shimmer)
– MAC “Satellite Dreams” and Milani “Shock” on top of the black eyeshadow (crease)
– MAC “Gorgeous” e/s as highlight
– MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack”
– Urban Decay Eyeliner in “Rockstar” on lower lashline
– MUFE Fiber Mascara
– L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara

– MAC l/s in “California Dreamin’ (LE)
– NYX Lipgloss in “Lilac Field”

FOTD: Purple, Pink, & Blue Eyes

Sorry for the lack of posts! We are moving offices at work so we’ve been packing and trying to work at the same time! Then I watched “Twilight” on Friday and I watched it again on Saturday with my friend Erica (hey I really want them to make “New Moon” and so happy that they are! So I had to help them meet their mark, lol). I won’t spoil it for you ladies who have not seen the movie yet, but MY personal little movie review is that you should really read the book before you watch the movie in order to understand it. They took A LOT of the good parts out (essential parts in my opinion), and I know they had a limited budget AND it’s tough condensing a huge book into a 2 hour movie, but I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t develop Edward and Bella’s relationship a bit more in the movie like it’s done in the book. It was literally like they went from I want to kill to you, I hate you, to I love you in a span of a day (unlike in the book where it progressed)…but I still LOVED the movie just because of the eyecandy, Edward Cullen. LOL.

So I hope that “New Moon” will be A LOT better and stay true to the book, assuming they will have more of a budget for this movie…we’ll see!

Anyway, here is a quick look I did the other day using last year’s MAC holiday “Cool Eyes” palette…

What I used:

– MUFE HD Primer in Mauve
– MAC Studio Fix Concealer in NC35
– Fyrinnae Mineral Foundation in “Sunstone”

– MAC Blush in “True Romantic”

– MAC PP in “Painterly”
– MAC e/s in “Medallion” all over the lid (from last year’s antiquitease “cool eyes” palette)
– Beauty UK e/s (the pink e/s on lower half of the lid)
– MAC e/s in “Trophy Pink” on top of Beauty UK e/s
– MAC e/s in “Modern Heir” and Beauty UK Purple e/s on contour/crease
– MAC e/s in “Shadowy Lady” on outer-V
– Urban Decay Glide Eyeliner in “Lust” on lower lashline
– MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack”
– Exactlights mascara

– MAC l/s “To Swoon For” (LE)
– MAC l/g “Magnetique” (LE)

FOTD: Using “Blonde’s Gold” & Pure Luxe’s “Bad Girl”

Weekends are pretty much the only time I can get a FOTD in since during the week I work and don’t have much time in the mornings, I wish there was more time in the day! I had several requests on a few things and trust me I didn’t forget just haven’t had time to either do them or upload them, but I am trying to get them out asap, so here is a tiny list of what I am working on: applying pigments wet (aka “foiling”) using a sponge-tip applicator (I have a tut on this using a regular brush you can find it HERE), leopard eyes, reviews on blinc kiss me mascara, another tinted moisturizer, Kryolan foundation, finding the perfect foundation shade and how to apply foundation, glam/pinup girl look, hiding dark circles, look using only Milani e/s, and many more I can’t think of at the moment, LOL.

Anyway, here is a look I did today because I got bored and wanted to dust off my Pure Luxe eyeshadow “Bad Girl” which I haven’t used in awhile, kinda looks like the Laker’s look I did awhile back but not as yellow since I used a neutral all over lid color (Overrich pigment in “Blonde’s Gold”), what I like about this look? I only used 2 colors. :)

What I Used:
– MAC StudioFinish Concealer in NC35
– Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer Wand (highlighting end)
– Purely Cosmetics Mineral Foundation in “Olive Beige”

– Jordana Blush in “Stardust”
– Modern Beauty Blush (the purple one forgot the name)

– MAC Pigment in “Blonde’s Gold” applied wet all over the lid
– Pure Luxe e/s in “Bad Girl” on outer-V and contour applied dry
– MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack”
– Shiseido Mascara Base
– L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara
– MAC technakohl eye pencil in “Graphblack” thanks to Miss Jaclyn Rose!!!

– MAC “Up the Amp” lipstick
– NYX “Doll Pink” round lipgloss

Mimi (aka d0rksta) was sweet to invite me to be part of her 100th video where she had the clever idea of having many YouTubers and makeup bloggers/guru take part and answer some fun questions! Thanks Mimi! So check it out!

Reader Question: Outfit and Makeup I wore at IMATS

Q: Hi Vanessa, I was wondering if you had a full pic of your outfit you wore at IMATS and your makeup look? Thanks!

A: Howdy! I got this dress (pic below) at Wal-Mart believe it or not for a nice $14.88 (I love bargain shopping), and the belt I got from Old Navy last year for $16 (which oddly enough costs more than the dress!).

My makeup: I did this look before (except on this recent one I added MAC e/s in “Shadowy Lady” to give it a more smokey look), you can find the tutorial by CLICKING HERE, I used MAC e/s “Beautiful Iris” all over the lid, “MAC e/s in “Nocturnelle” on the outer-V and contour, and “Shadowy Lady” on the outer-V. Falsies are Ardell “Babies”, Blush I believe was MAC “Dollymix” mixed with “Flirt & Tease”, lips was MAC l/s in “Melrose Mood”, topped with “Babysparks” dazzleglass….of course by the time I took that pic with Pursebuzz, everything melted since I was running around and it was ridiculously hot that day! :(
