So I thought i’d play around with some makeup and hair looks for the big day (90 days away from today!), just to sorta get an idea of what look I am going for….I definitely want something romantic.
I bought this birdcage veil with a huge ivory flower (and comb) at Forever 21 for $6.80 (can you say bargain steal!??), I just curled my hair and sprayed some gel (Tresemme Spray Gel) to give it more texture and makes everything stay in place without making your hair feel “crispy”. I just put my hair up in a loose, messy bun, and just applied the veil; pinning the actual veil down with bobby pins so it stayed in place. I actually liked how it came out, the whole vintage glam vibe is definitely classic.
For my makeup (not gonna wear red lipstick on my wedding day, but thought it’d be fun to use Ruby Woo since it was Christmas day after all!), I used:
– MAC Ruby Woo lipstick – MAC Pro Longwear Foundation in NC35 – MAC Careblend Pressed Powder in Medium Dark – MAC e/s in Bisque and Bamboo all over the lids – MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack – L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara – Ardell Lashes – MAC e/s in Chocolate Brown to fill in eyebrows – Milani Blush in Cherries on Top on cheeks
Ruby Woo looks great on all skin tones (in my opinion), it has a blue undertone that just looks amazing because it doesn’t look like a true red on, so it definitely draws attention to the lips. It’s really matte/dry, so I apply a tiny coat of Vaseline on my lips before applying to help it go on smoother.
Thanks everyone for the bday greetings on Facebook, Twitter, text, and phone! I didn’t realize how many people also share June 1st as their birthday. The fiance was super sweet, he always gives the best (and sappiest!) cards, they always make me tear up, he got me an iPad2 as a birthday gift, I was so excited! Now I can travel without carrying my heavy laptop, and of course playing Angry Birds and Words with Friends on a bigger screen is awesome haha.
My wonderful co-workers and friends totally made my day, Natasha made me delicious red velvet cupcakes (my favorite), Carolina and her daughter gave me the cutest Hello Kitty mug with a cover and a thermos (yet I just turned 29! LOL), and Kyle got me a Sony Dash. I have such a great circle around me and I am so grateful to have them in my life.
As for my birthday FOTD, I kept it simple, probably will do a more intricate look this weekend, but since I went to work on my bday, I just kept it basic, but brightened up the lip with Covergirl Lipstick in “Smitten”.
Bday dinner with my bridesmaid Zari:
What I used:
– NuMe Style Flat Iron
– MAC Pro Longwear Foundation in NC 35
– MAC Sheer Pressed Powder in NC 35
– MAC Blush in “True Romantic”
– MSF in “Petticoat”
– MAC Brow Set in “Girl Boy”
– 28 eyeshadow neutral palette (they don’t have names)
Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day loves! Jon and I celebrated v-day last night with dinner and a movie (we watched “Just Go With It” which I was a lot better than I thought it was gonna be, and it was pretty funny), both of which we have not done in a long time, so it was nice to spend some quality time.
Jon gave me the cutest card, on the front it says “I can’t control it…must hug someone now!” and inside it says “How about you?” (and he always asks for a hug!) then he wrote “6 Valentine’s down and forever to go”. Awww, I just can’t wait to marry this man!
Since it’s V-day, thought id play with NYX’s round lipstick in “Chaos” and also switched it up to a softer look, using MAC lipglass in “Hush Hush Rose”.
I got a few outfits from Charlotte Russe when I was in Vegas, and I also got a few outfits from Forever21 (online), and since many of you have asked for more fashion related posts, I figured id post some of my haul. Forever21 had a sale on this long black sleeveless cardigan for only $5.99! And I LOVE IT! That was probably the best bargain ever! I got a turquoise ruffle dress from Forever21 also, I used an old H&M belt I had to dress it up a bit. The short/tube top set (they are attached together like one whole piece) I got at Charlotte-Russe which also comes with a faux alligator skin belt. It’s a bit too revealing for my taste (as in too much skin at one time) since I don’t usually wear shorts (because I desperately need a tan LOL), so I most likely would wear it with a cardigan or the vest like shown below to tone it down, but it’s super cute.
It’s wrinkly because it was packaged tight when it was delivered to me.
The black sleeveless cardigan I got for only $5.99! over a solid heather gray shirt and some leggings:
Jumper from Charlotte-Russe:
Here is a look with the “Classic Dame” mattene lipstick I got at the CCO, the look below this I used “Full on Lust” lipglass. The eye makeup is the same for BOTH looks, since I was just messing with the lippies.
What I used:
[Face] – Givenchy Matte Primer – MAC NC30 Concealer – Buff’d Mineral Foundation in Chamois & Almond – MAC Pro Setting Powder
[Cheeks] – MAC “Emote” blush for contouring – MAC Mineral Blush in “Nuance” – MAC “Refined” MSF (from Sugarsweet collection)
[Eyebrows] – Anastasia Brow Whiz Eye Pencil in “Medium Ash”
[Eyes] – MAC Shadestick in “Lemon Chiffon” on lid – MAC “Goldmine” e/s on lid – Milani “Java Bean”, MAC e/s in “Mulch” & Milani “Chocolate” blended together on outer-V and contour – MAC “Shale” e/s on contour – MAC “Ricepaper” as highlight on brow bone – MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack” – Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara – Ardell #120 Demi Wispy Eyelashes – Urban Decay e/l in “Zero” smudged on lower lashline
[Lips] – (For look #1), “Classic Dame” mattene lipstick – (For look #2), “MAC “Beurre” cremestick lipliner, MAC “Snob” lipstick, and “Full on Lust” lipglass
This was actually requested by my bestie Erica, and a few other gals as a Halloween look (sorry it’s a bit pic heavy, it’s also my main profile pic). It actually came out better than I envisioned it granted i’ve never played with this “era” before. I also used the MUFE HD foundation for this look. Isn’t it flawless??! It just gives an awesome look! I got the flower from an accessory store (I think it was “Amuse”). The steps I used are a bit similar to the Matryoshka FOTD in the sense that I used a neutral base and falsies, but I skipped out on the thick eyeliner and falsies at the bottom for a more classic, vintage look. Since I have a beauty mark by default I didn’t need to create one haha. I also used “Stark Naked” blush and “Petticoat” MSF on my cheeks.
My inspiration was actually Dita Von Teese & the model from “Red She Said”. Long black arm gloves would compliment this look and make a great costume. I also did a quick video below on how I did my hair for this FOTD.
Also, someone asked me about the size of the Urban Decay 24/7 travel kit, in comparison to the original, it’s actually over half the size of the original, so you get all the colors at a good price! (I’ll take a pic soon).
Directions: – Primed face with Monistat Chafing Gel, then applied MUFE’s HD Liquid Foundation in #127 with Beauty Blender Sponge. – Apply your concealer – Apply your eye primer, I used MAC PP in “Soft Ochre”. – Sweep your lids with a neutral eyeshadow, such as patina. I mixed mine with: Patina, Soba, and Ricepaper. – Highlighted using: Shroom or Ricepaper, Femme-Fi is good too. – Apply eyeliner (I used Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner in Black) starting from the middle of the lid, and wing outward. Then you can fill the inner with eyeliner. I applied 3 dots at the end of the ‘wing’, but this is optional. – Apply thick falsies for an elegant look that stands out. I used NYX’s False Eyelashes in 101 (they are the ones that have a criss-cross pattern). – Lined my lower lashline with Urban Decay’s 24/7 Pencil in “Zero”, then smudged it with a Q-tip for a smokey look. – For the cheeks I used MAC brush #109 and applied “Stark Naked” Beauty Powder Blush on the apples of my cheeks and swept up towards me ear, then applied MAC MSF in “Petticoat” on top. – Contoured with “Emote” blush. – Used MAC lipstick in “Port Red” on lips, with MAC “Fanplastico” lip laquer on top for shine.
Don’t mind my Tyra banks five head, LMAO!

CLOSE UP OF THE MAKEUP:
Daytime (NO FLASH):
Corset worn (from when I used to work at Forever 21 like 5 years ago! LOL):
So I login to MySpace to find a comment from my sister who only talks to me when she needs something (LOL), so it says:
“Hi Sis, can you help me out? I am going to homecoming on the 18th but I have no idea how I should do my makeup, on your blogthingamabobber, can you do a tutorial? My dress is a silky red strapless, mid-length dress btw. Thank you!”
For one, my sis has never really been into makeup, until recently she started dabbling into foundation and eyeliner at the most. She has great skin to begin with (she also uses Lyna Pearl Cream) and has amazing features so to me, she doesn’t even NEED any makeup–given that she is only 17 and got my mama’s looks. (I look like my dad)
I called her and asked her if she was down with wearing red lipstick, since her dress is red, and I know for some people red lipstick is a bit extreme; but she was down to try it! I think with her Snow White complexion, red lips would definitely bring her face out and go well with her red dress. Since she usually sports neutral lips. I will also try and do a smokey eye with neutral lips in case she decides to go with that one instead.
So this is the LAST look using the same steps from the Matryoshka look/tutorial. The reason I did these looks derived from ONE original look is to show that you CAN definitely create different looks just by altering a few things here and there without having to start COMPLETELY over.
So for this look, I just changed the lippie, used NYX Round Lipstick in “Chaos”, with MAC l/s in “Port Red” and a touch of NYX Lipgloss is “Plush Red”. I kept the eyes simple since the focal point are the lips, she has black hair which will pull the entire look off.
Rory if you are reading this, you can get any deep red lipstick, and just go easy on the eyes with a neutral eyeshadow, thick eyeliner, and some mascara. If you know how to apply some false eyelashes, you can definitely apply those for a little more “oomph”. I am sorry I am not there to do your makeup for your first high school dance ever, but I hope you have fun and enjoy the night!
